## ASUNIM: solar engineering that connects hybrid generation and storage

EPC Feed engineering assessment. Published 2026-10-25; Updated 2026-10-25T21:48:09.855Z.

ASUNIM is a photovoltaic specialist with an international operating structure. Its group website describes more than 20 years in solar, over 2 GW of photovoltaic systems worldwide, and activities across EPC, engineering, operation and maintenance, and distribution of solar equipment. The group includes country companies and related businesses serving different markets. This structure can be valuable for project owners because it combines a focused solar engineering identity with local delivery organizations. It also allows ASUNIM to address more than construction alone, including design, equipment sourcing and ongoing plant service. [Source 2]

A particularly revealing example is ASUNIM’s work on hybrid solar-wind projects for Sancak Enerji in Türkiye. The company describes two completed projects totaling 42 MWp: a 26 MWp solar facility integrated with the 103.2 MW Konya Bağlar wind project and a 16 MWp plant integrated with the 52.8 MW Yahyalı wind project. ASUNIM says it worked as full EPC, with in-house 3D design, engineering and software services, and that the project used a hybrid power-plant controller. This work illustrates the engineering challenge of adding solar generation to existing wind assets while coordinating shared grid capacity and operational controls. [Source 4]

The hybrid controller is a significant system-level element. A combined wind and solar plant needs coordinated active-power limits, reactive-power control, plant-level grid response and supervisory control across distinct generation technologies. ASUNIM’s 2024 account says the hybrid power-plant controller was implemented for the first time in Türkiye in this project and highlights its response characteristics. The company also identifies planning, engineering, shadow analysis, production simulation and optimization as services performed by its European engineering department. These details give owners a concrete basis to examine the firm’s integration capabilities beyond module installation. [Source 4]

ASUNIM’s 2025 African project announcement adds storage and international consortium work. The company reports winning a World Bank tender with a consortium partner for a Somalia project worth USD 18 million, comprising 10 MWp solar PV, 20 MWh battery storage and a 9-kilometre overhead transmission line. ASUNIM says it and its US-based and Somali partners will undertake engineering and procurement. This project couples generation, storage and evacuation infrastructure—three scopes that are often procured separately—giving ASUNIM experience in coordinating a hybrid system with a grid connection package. [Source 3]

A later World Bank award notice identifies ASUNIM Renewable Energy Joint Stock Company in the consortium selected for the larger Jazeera project at BECO’s power plant in Mogadishu. That contract covers 55 MWp AC of solar PV and 160 MWh of battery storage, with design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning over an 18-month term. The notice lists Renewvia Energy Corporation and Civil and Electrical Projects Contracting Company Limited as the other awardees and gives a total signed price of USD 45,018,820.23. It confirms consortium participation but does not disclose how the work is divided among members. [Source 1]

The Jazeera project’s scale raises important integration tasks: arranging the PV field, linking battery inverters and energy management, coordinating the connection to the BECO system, and setting commissioning tests that validate the hybrid plant as a whole. ASUNIM’s earlier 10 MWp/20 MWh project with a transmission line and its 42 MWp wind-solar hybrid experience offer relevant complementary context. These are not identical facilities, but they show experience with both co-located generation controls and solar-storage-evacuation design. The combination supports a positive view of ASUNIM’s capacity to participate in increasingly integrated renewable projects. [Source 3, 4, 1]

The company’s reported global portfolio of more than 2 GW provides scale context, while project-specific examples give the more useful engineering picture. Across its official pages, ASUNIM describes solar arrays, hybrid control, storage systems, overhead grid connections and lifecycle services. Its capabilities also include distribution of key equipment such as modules, batteries, cables, connectors, inverters and support structures. This vertical scope can aid coordination between design assumptions and equipment selection, especially when local logistics and site constraints affect package decisions. Owners should examine each proposed technology vendor and responsibility boundary during technical evaluation. [Source 2, 3, 4]

ASUNIM is a positive fit for PV and hybrid renewable projects where specialized solar engineering must connect to storage, wind assets or wider grid infrastructure. Its record includes operational hybrid installations, a smaller solar-storage-transmission project in Somalia and consortium participation in the larger Jazeera award. These examples show a firm working across different scales and interfaces, with published experience in full EPC and project development. The assessment is grounded in ASUNIM and World Bank disclosures; it presents an engineering perspective rather than a ranking and should be complemented by detailed reference checks for project-specific scope and operating results. [Source 2, 3, 4, 1]

For an owner, the most valuable questions are how the controls architecture handles forecast error and grid constraints, how the storage system is warranted and maintained, how transmission and plant protection interfaces are assigned, and what commissioning evidence will be delivered. ASUNIM’s hybrid project description makes the control layer a natural area for technical dialogue, while its Jazeera consortium role brings larger storage scale. Confirming the proposed engineering team and each consortium partner’s responsibilities will turn this public record into a project-specific assessment. The available evidence nevertheless supports a credible and positive solar EPC profile. [Source 3, 4, 1]
