McDermott and Doosan Enerbility have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore strategic cooperation in power generation. Announced on 4 August 2026, the framework covers joint evaluation and pursuit of projects involving gas turbines, generators and related equipment and services. It identifies an area for potential collaboration rather than a customer award or the construction of a named power station. The announcement does not assign a project value, generating capacity or location to the prospective work.

The companies specifically identify behind-the-meter generation for data centres among the opportunities they will examine. They also intend to evaluate delivery approaches aimed at improving efficiency, response times and project risk. These are objectives for the proposed collaboration. The release does not provide measured savings, a guaranteed construction period or evidence that a particular data-centre campus has selected the companies to supply its power.

Doosan's disclosed equipment offering includes gas turbines, steam turbines, generators and associated technical services. McDermott brings engineering and construction capabilities to the proposed relationship. The memorandum creates a framework for considering those capabilities together; it does not describe an exclusive equipment supply obligation or allocate every project responsibility between the parties.

For EPC Feed, the behind-the-meter reference is the most useful clue to the engineering questions the partnership could address. Matching a generating package to a specific customer's demand requires the equipment and the wider facility to be considered as one delivery problem. Interfaces with electrical systems, supporting infrastructure and the intended operating arrangement would need definition for a real project. The memorandum provides an organisational starting point, but it does not disclose those technical choices for any particular site.

The next meaningful evidence would be a project-specific agreement identifying the customer, scope and allocation of delivery responsibilities. That would allow the relationship between technology supply and engineering execution to be assessed more precisely. Until then, this is a cooperation milestone in the power market, with data-centre supply highlighted as one possible application. Keeping that status clear avoids counting potential opportunities as contracted generating capacity while preserving the significance of the companies' decision to explore a combined offering.
