ADNOC has awarded McDermott a contract for Package 4 of the Umm Shaif Integrated Gas Cap and Surface Pressure Boosting project. Announced on 24 August 2026, the award covers engineering, procurement, construction and installation. McDermott classifies it as a mega contract, a category it defines as exceeding US$1 billion. That threshold is a company value category; it does not reveal the exact agreed price or the amount attributable to each participant in the delivery consortium.

McDermott and its Qingdao McDermott Wuchuan consortium will deliver a new surface pressure-boosting facility, including a jacket and topside together with associated brownfield modifications. Engineering and project management will be led from McDermott's United Arab Emirates offices, while fabrication is assigned to the QMW yard in Qingdao, China. The disclosed arrangement links offshore installation work in the UAE with fabrication in China.

The project forms part of the Umm Shaif Long Term Development Plan and is intended to maximise gas recovery and increase gas production. These are the development's stated objectives. The announcement does not quantify incremental production, identify a commissioning date or provide the topside's weight. No achieved increase in gas output should therefore be attached to the contract announcement.

For EPC Feed, the integration of new structures with brownfield modifications is the central delivery issue. A new offshore facility needs defined interfaces with the assets it will support, while fabrication and installation must use a consistent set of requirements. The named jacket, topside and modification scopes make that relationship visible without supplying enough detail to infer the selected lift method, installation vessel or sequence of offshore shutdowns.

The geographical division of work is also useful for procurement tracking. Engineering leadership and fabrication location are disclosed, but neither alone determines the full supply chain or installation programme. Subsequent updates identifying fabrication progress, marine mobilisation and commissioning would show how the package moves through execution. Keeping these stages distinct allows the award's scale and integrated scope to be recognised while avoiding a premature claim that the pressure-boosting facility is complete or that its intended production benefits have already been realised.
