Technip Energies launches modular electrified SnapLNG 1.5 with technology partners

The standardized concept combines a 1.5 million-tonne-per-year LNG train with offsite fabrication and electric motor-driven compression.

Technip Energies launched SnapLNG 1.5 on 14 September 2026, presenting a standardized, modular and electrified liquefied natural gas solution developed with technologies from Honeywell Technologies and Siemens Energy. The concept is built around a train producing 1.5 million tonnes per year. That figure describes the capacity of the repeatable train design, rather than a newly commissioned export terminal or the combined capacity of contracts awarded on the announcement date.

Technip Energies is commercialising the solution and contributes project execution, modularisation and digital delivery capabilities. Honeywell provides gas pretreatment, liquefaction and automation technologies, while Siemens Energy contributes electrified turbomachinery and compression solutions. The release sets out these complementary roles across the process and delivery chain. It describes an integrated offering to developers, rather than three separate plant construction awards announced at the same time.

The design relies on extensive offsite fabrication and electric motor-driven liquefaction equipment. Technip Energies says standardisation and replication are intended to reduce development complexity and improve predictability. It states that the approach can shorten project schedules by up to two years. That is the supplier's stated potential schedule benefit; the announcement does not provide a completed project's independently measured time saving or make the same saving a guaranteed result for every site.

The company positions SnapLNG 1.5 in the small-to-mid-scale market and says the train can be repeated for larger developments. Its release also presents a demand outlook under which more than 200 million tonnes per year of new LNG capacity could be required by 2035. The figure is a forward-looking market view used to explain the launch, not a tally of funded construction projects already awarded to the partners.

The collaboration was to be marked at Gastech 2026 in Bangkok. For project owners, the announced offering combines a defined train size with a delivery model based on modular fabrication and established process equipment. Evaluating an actual development would still require project-specific decisions about location, feed gas, interfaces, power supply and investment approval. The news event is the commercial launch of the standardized solution and the identification of the partners' contributions, distinct from any subsequent customer award or operating performance reported for a particular LNG facility.
