How the record is kept
The rules behind every page: which sources count, how dates and deadlines are handled, how status is derived, and how mistakes are corrected.
Sources
Tenders come from the official notice published by the buyer or its financier: today the World Bank’s procurement notices and the EU’s Tenders Electronic Daily (TED), read through their public interfaces. Company news comes from the company’s own release or stock exchange filing. Contract awards come from official award notices. Press coverage is used only to find a primary source, not to replace one. Every record lists its sources with the date each one was read, and the source register lists every publisher cited.
How records are compiled
EPC Feed publishes original reporting and analysis. Published documents are cited on the same page. EPC Feed also conducts company research and receives information directly; the editorial desk retains the provenance of that material. Quotations are verbatim from their source. Unknown company facts stay empty and are shown as “Not verified” or “Not published”; they are never estimated.
Engineering assessments
Company profiles may include a long-form engineering assessment authored by EPC Feed. These are editorial examinations of engineering capabilities, project scopes, team experience and delivery methods. Technical interpretation is developed from the record and our research; an assessment is not a customer testimonial, score or company ranking. Project roles distinguish engineering, EPCM and defined EPC packages so that a plant’s full capacity is not mistaken for the contractor’s delivery scope.
Dates
- Event date: when the reported event happened, from the source.
- First published on EPC Feed: assigned once by the database when a record is first published, and never rewritten.
- Updated: the last change to a record. Earlier revisions are kept in an append-only history.
- Last checked: for tenders, the date EPC Feed last read the official record.
Deadlines and time zones
A deadline is shown exactly as the notice states it, in the notice’s own zone, with the equivalent in UTC. When a notice gives local time at a delivery address, the zone of that address is used and marked as inferred. When a notice gives a fixed offset, that offset is used as published, even if it differs from local time; the page says so. When no zone is given at all, the deadline is read as Anywhere on Earth (UTC−12), so a tender is never shown as closed while it may still be open somewhere. When a notice gives no time, the deadline runs to the end of that day.
Tender status
Status is either reported or derived, and the page says which. A tender is open while its published deadline lies ahead, closing soon within the last seven days, and closed: deadline passed once the deadline is behind us. That last label is EPC Feed’s derivation: buyers often extend deadlines, so always check the official notice. A tender is awarded once an award notice is published, and cancelled or suspended only when the buyer says so.
Values
Every amount carries its basis: an estimated value published by the buyer, a budget, a bid security, an evaluated bid price or a signed contract price. These are different things and are never mixed. When a company discloses only a range, the range is shown with the company’s own definition. Amounts are shown in the published currency, unconverted.
Companies
A company profile shows only facts read in a cited source, each with its own citation number. An address taken from an official notice is labelled as such rather than presented as headquarters. EPC Feed does not rank companies. The relationship map links two companies only where a notice or release documents the link: buyer and contractor on an award, joint-venture partners, bidders on the same tender, a financier and the buyer it finances, or a parent company.
People and privacy
Procurement notices often name officials with their e-mail addresses and phone numbers. EPC Feed does not republish personal contact details; the official notice is always linked. Natural persons listed as beneficial owners in award notices are not named either.
Illustrations
Story images are generated illustrations, labelled as such, unless a photograph with verified reuse rights is shown with its credit and licence. EPC Feed does not use company logos.
Corrections
When a fact changes or was wrong, the record is corrected, the correction is dated on the page and listed on the corrections page, and the earlier revision stays in the history. To report an error, use the correction form with a source.
