Zenith Energy said on 23 October that it had completed the Stage 3 Expansion Project at the Tanami Power Station in the Northern Territory. Its notice identifies the work as installation of new Wärtsilä and Jenbacher generating sets at the Dead Bullock Soak (DBS) site. Zenith described delivery as safe, on time and on budget, but did not publish a contract value, detailed schedule, generator ratings or a breakdown of construction scope in the announcement.
Tanami is a remote underground gold operation. Zenith’s project case study says it operates two power stations for Newmont at the site: DBS and Granites, linked by 66-kilovolt overhead lines. The same case study gives their combined capacity as 113.2 megawatts and says the arrangement began in 2018. Those details provide context for the role of the new generating sets, but the October announcement does not state how much Stage 3 changes total capacity or whether it changes the fuel mix.
Zenith said it delivered the expansion in collaboration with Newmont and supply partners, and that it has supplied power to Newmont at Tanami since 2018. The completion post offers no commissioning date, operating performance data or emissions estimate for the added equipment. It therefore supports a completion milestone, while any additional output, reliability or efficiency benefit remains unquantified in the disclosed material.
The announcement is relevant to mine infrastructure because a power station expansion underpins the energy needs of a remote mining operation. However, it does not identify engineering or construction subcontractors, procurement packages, equipment costs, or future expansion stages. The verifiable development is installation of new gensets at DBS and the reported completion of Stage 3; the project’s precise capacity increment and operating impact were not disclosed.
The company’s case study places the DBS and Granites stations 42 kilometres apart and says they are connected by 66-kilovolt overhead lines; together, the existing system is listed at 113.2 MW. Zenith’s completion notice does not identify the size of the Stage 3 increment, so the combined figure is context for the pre-existing Tanami power arrangement rather than a post-expansion capacity figure. The announcement also does not state a change to the generating fuel mix.
